This past weekend, we here in Iceland, were privileged to be the focus of YWAM in Northern Europe. The objective of this conference, known as "Eye on Reykjavík" was to seek the Lord to establish a long term YWAM presence in Reykjavik, disciple young people from Iceland and send them all over the world. Were were joined by people from 12 different nations who heard God's calling to come to Iceland. It was an amazing time of prayer and community. It was a true blessing to see the how YWAM is working in different spheres across Northern Europe. This weekend helped bring to life how international YWAM really is. I have looked at a map of where YWAM is, which is everywhere, but it really came alive to me this weekend.
We were joined by Loren Cunningham, the founder of YWAM. He has such a passion for spreading the gospel and we heard many stories on how God is working through YWAM to bring the good news to every country and language on earth. Pretty incredible things are going on right now. He told us that they hope to have the Bible being translated into every known language by the year 2020. That is over 7000 languages! Amazing stuff, eh?
Here I am with Loren Cunningham and my fellow Canadians at the conference:
The weekend made me realize the unifying power of Christ. That people from different countries, churches, families, and walks of life can come together and form lasting bonds. We shared amazing meals and great conversations. We were brought together by a love for sharing the gospel and we did not need anything more. I made some great friends over this weekend (capped off with an afternoon at the pool) and now have a few more stamps to get in my passport.
Check out this video narrated by Loren Cunningham. It really speaks to the global mission of YWAM
